Welcome to Fujifilm X-Treme

Today is the launch of Fujifilm X-Treme, a project to showcase the Fujifilm digital camera systems in extreme sport and documentary environments.

Fujifilm X Photographers John Rourke of Adrenal Media and Jeff Carter of MacLean Photographic will be testing the Fujiflm X Series and GFX medium format cameras around the world on specific projects for Fujifilm.

Fujifilm X-Treme will showcase the camera systems in different arenas both to the camera buying public and to other professional photographers, who may not have considered Fujifilm as an alternative to their current cameras.

It will also provide imagery for the Fujifilm Marketing department as well as real life feedback for the research and development department back in Japan as the engineers work on the next generation of the X Series.

Kunio Aoyama, Fujifilm Japan, said:  “Fujifilm X-Treme is a great way to show to the world what the X-Series is capable of.   John Rourke and Jeff Carter are two of the leading sports photographers and we have worked with them closely since they became Fujifilm X Photographers in 2015.   We look forward to working even closer with them as they begin the Fujifilm X-Treme project and I am very much looking forward to seeing the results.”

“I have been using Fujifilm cameras for all of my work over the past two years,” said John Rourke.  “Adrenal Media are the official photographers for the FIA World Endurance Championship, which includes the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, so I know from firsthand experience that the cameras can work extremely well in these high stress environments.  Fujifilm X-Treme will allow us to take the Fujifilm system into new environments and really put them to the test.”

“Fujifilm X-Treme will offer some great opportunities to test the X Series to the max in some very challenging conditions,” said Jeff Carter of MacLean Photographic.  “I know what these Fujifilm X Series cameras are capable of and Fujifilm X-Treme will allow us to demonstrate and share our experiences to a far wider audience.  It will also allow us to provide some very useful data to the engineers back in Japan for the next generation of Fujifilm cameras.  I am very proud to be a Fujifilm Ambassador and I would like to thank Fujifilm for the opportunity to work even closer with their forward thinking company.”

The first project will be unveiled at 3pm on Thursday 18 May and will involve high speed action and lots of water.
