This shot by John Rourke of Adrenal Media is of the 2016 European Le Mans Series Championship winning Beechdean AMR Aston Martin Vantage. This was taken during a special photoshoot set up at the Italian race circuit at Imola, the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari in May 2016.  The car was actually moving slowly as the camera was set on the end of a 6 metre carbon fibre boom.   The long 10 second exposure used to capture the shot gives the impression of high speed from an angle that would be impossible to get if this was actually during a race. This image was taken by Jeff Carter at the Industry Wakeboard Pro Tour event held at Foxlake Adventures near Dunbar in Scotland. Using a very slow shutter speed to project movement into the image, Jeff followed the rider as he made his jump from one of the ramps. As he landed the spray engulfed him and the long exposure provided a lot of movement in the water and the background. Today's Picture of the Day is a bit of BMX action from the Red Bull Ring near Spielberg in Austria. John Rourke captured this image during the display ahead of the European Le Mans Series race at the home of Austrian motorsport. This image was taken during free practice for the 6 Hours of Mexico last September, the first visit to Mexico by the FIA World Endurance Championship and the fifth round of the nine race world championship. The image was taken by Jeff Carter on the Fujifilm X-T2 and XF100-400mm f4.5/5.6R OIS LM WR fitted with the XF1.4x converter.   The sun was setting behind the grandstands and Jeff spotted the sunlight reflecting on the track surface as the cars exited the stadium section of the 4.3km Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.    It was just a matter of waiting for two cars to be in the right position on the track and this shot is of the Porsche 911 hybrid having just over taken the Ford GT.   The exposure was 1/1600s @ f10 ISO200 to freeze the action. _____________________________________________________________________________ FUJIFILM X-TREME Fujifilm X-Treme is a project run for Fujifilm by official X-Photographers Jeff Carter of  Ma...

In July 2015 I posted a review of the  Fujifilm X-T10  which I tested alongside my X-T1 as a lightweight alternative to the larger and more expensive camera.  So when Fujifilm announced the launch of the X-T20 I was keen to put one to the test.   I took an X-T20 along with me to the FIA World Endurance Championship event at Spa-Francorchamps, the TCR International Series race during the European Le Mans Series event in Monza and I took a few shots with it during the recent Water Ski event at Hazelwood Ski Centre last month. Like the X-T10, the T20 is tiny compared to it's bigger brother.  Even with the battery grip removed from the T2,  the picture above shows the larger camera dwarfing the X-T20.   Now this can be seen as a good thing if you are traveling and need a lightweight camera with a big punch but when using it with long lenses such as the 50-140mm or 100-400mm the X-T20 can be a little unbalanced.  And like the X-T10 there is ...
