Picture of the Day: Red Bull BMX Team


Today's Picture of the Day is a bit of BMX action from the Red Bull Ring near Spielberg in Austria.

 John Rourke captured this image during the display ahead of the European Le Mans Series race at the home of Austrian motorsport.

 The image was taken on an Fujifilm X-T1 and XF10-24mm f4 with an exposure of 1/4000 @ f4 ISO200 to freeze the action as the rider left the top of the ramp.

FUJIFILM X-TREME

Fujifilm X-Treme is a project run for Fujifilm by official X-Photographers Jeff Carter of MacLean Photographic and John Rourke of Adrenal Media.  

Having already proven that Fujifilm cameras can work as well as any other camera system in the world of motorsport within the World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans, these two sport and commercial photographers will be taking the Fujifilm X-Series and GFX cameras and lenses to the extreme in different sporting environments.

This weekend the P1 SuperStock Championship begins the four round European series in Aalborg, Denmark before for the first of three races in the UK, the P1 Scottish Grand Prix of the Seas in Greenock on the 24/25 June. We'd like to wish everyone the best of luck, especially the 'Spirit of Inverclyde' crew of Davie and Ashleigh Finlayson who we have been following over the past few weeks.  The Scottish Father nd Daughter crew will be making their P1 debut in Denmark and we look forward to them flying the flag for Scotland in Denmark and in two weeks time in Greenock. X-Treme Test for Fujifilm X-T2 and John Rourke

When Fujifilm X-Photographers John Rourke and Jeff Carter embarked on this project they wanted to take the Fujifilm camera system into different locations to prove they could work in the most difficult conditions.   During the 'Spirit of Inverclyde' P1 Panther test runs on Sunday 28 May John Rourke clambered into a dry suit, fitted a buoyancy ring, and went for a swim in the sea off the Scottish coast near Musselburgh. The plan was discussed with the driver of the 'Spirit of Inverclyde' Davie Finlayson who would run parallel 20 feet out of John's position behind the yacht he was attached to.  Davie did three passes and the resulting shots are really amazing and very different from the ones you see taken from the shore or the back of a boat. Picture of the Day: WEC in Mexico City

This image was taken during free practice for the 6 Hours of Mexico last September, the first visit to Mexico by the FIA World Endurance Championship and the fifth round of the nine race world championship. The image was taken by Jeff Carter on the Fujifilm X-T2 and XF100-400mm f4.5/5.6R OIS LM WR fitted with the XF1.4x converter.   The sun was setting behind the grandstands and Jeff spotted the sunlight reflecting on the track surface as the cars exited the stadium section of the 4.3km Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez.    It was just a matter of waiting for two cars to be in the right position on the track and this shot is of the Porsche 911 hybrid having just over taken the Ford GT.   The exposure was 1/1600s @ f10 ISO200 to freeze the action. _____________________________________________________________________________ FUJIFILM X-TREME Fujifilm X-Treme is a project run for Fujifilm by official X-Photographers Jeff Carter of  Ma...
